In 1961, Gene Senti and others started designing the new generation of Collins Ham Gear. It was known by various name: KWM-5000, The Prestige Line, and the “Cadillac” Radio. This is the only prototype built before Art Collins cancelled the project as it didn’t offer an advancement in the state of the art. The transceiver was to have everything in one box.
The unit on display was given to Dennis Day, W0ECK by Gene Senti, W0ROW. In 2006, Dennis donated it to the Collins Museum for others to enjoy and reflect on “what might have been”.
